EPAG Research was created in 2019 to deliver research, development and extension to the grains industry on Eyre Peninsula.
ANDREW WARE
Director & Research Agronomist
Andrew was born and raised on his family's farm, near Tumby Bay. After completing his agricultural degree at the Roseworthy Campus of the University of Adelaide, he commenced work at the Minnipa Research Centre where he conducted research on calcareous soils related issues, root lesion nematodes and other plant protection projects. He then moved to Adelaide to work with CSIRO on farming systems issues in the Mallee environment.
In 1999 Andrew moved back to manage his family's 2,200 ha mixed enterprise farm. After ten years of working on the farm Andrew decided it was time for a new challenge and took up a role with SARDI managing the New Variety Agronomy group in Port Lincoln.
In his time with SARDI, Andrew worked on and managed a number of research projects, including projects on canola agronomy and pathology, LEADA's water use and stubble retention projects, EPARF's soil moisture probe project, South Australia's National Variety Trial (NVT) program, and as well as editing the SA Sowing Guide.
In 2018 Andrew was the recipient of GRDC's Southern Region Emerging Leader Award, and SARDI's service to SARDI award.
In early 2019, Andrew decided to further develop his passion for the grains industry on Eyre Peninsula by starting EPAG Research to deliver high quality research, development and extension to the region.
Andrew currently sits on the LEADA committee, is an ex-officio member of the EPARF board and is a member of GRDC's Low Rainfall Regional Cropping Solutions Network and is a regular presenter at industry meetings and research updates.
Andrew lives in Port Lincoln with his wife, Kath, and his two children, Harri and Tommy.
